Our hospital’s addiction treatment history dates back to February 2002. Pembe Köşk Drug, Alcohol, Cigarette, Gambling and Food Addiction Treatment Clinic was first established in 2002 by Prof. Dr. Mehmet Çakıcı. The Pembe Köşk, which was established with 7 beds, was the first treatment and rehabilitation program in Cyprus. Bubrenorphine treatment, previously used for heroin treatment in the USA, Europe and Australia, was applied for the first time in the Middle East Region at the Pembe Köşk. During this period, Cypriot citizens who went abroad for addiction treatment began receiving treatment at the Pembe Köşk. The Pembe Köşk, whose fame spread rapidly, attracted many addicted patients from all over the world, including Turkey, the Greek Cypriot Administration, and the UK, seeking treatment. Since 2019, Pembe Köşk has undergone a more comprehensive restructuring as a hospital and rehabilitation center.

Especially in recent years, 1-month and 3-month injection and pellet treatments for heroin, cocaine and amphetamine addiction have been applied in our hospital. In addition to medication and monthly injection treatments, psychosocial support programs are also provided effectively in our hospital. Pembe Köşk Psychiatric Hospital has a staff that is experienced and knowledgeable in substance abuse. It works with psychiatrists, psychologists, medical doctors, nurses, event staff, psychological counselors, pharmacists and physiotherapists. Psychiatrists and psychologists on staff are usually faculty members. Our faculty members and physicians are award-winning psychiatrists and psychologists in both the field of addiction and psychiatry congresses. The psychiatrists and psychologists working at the treatment center are experts who have been working in the field of addiction for many years. Our doctors are the first specialists to use newly developed drugs in the field of addiction in the Middle East Region since 2002.
In addition to our medication treatments, we also have comprehensive and versatile rehabilitation programs available for our patients. After detox treatment, suitable patients are enrolled in a rehabilitation program. Rehabilitation and psychosocial support programs are conducted for a minimum of 1 month and extend to 2 months, 3 months and 6 months. It is generally preferred that patients stay in the treatment center for at least 3 months.
In the inpatient program, patients participate in daily psychiatric consultation, individual psychological therapy, group therapy, occupational therapy, life skills training, activities such as walking, sports and spa, yoga and movie watching. In addition to all these treatment and rehabilitation program activities, families are also interviewed. Each patient has a psychiatric consultation throughout the day, individual and group therapy with 3 different psychologists, a psychological counseling session for life skills training, a medical doctor check-up for medical problems, and activity programs with experts for sports, hiking, spa and yoga programs. These applications are performed under the control of a doctor and nurse for 24 hours.
