In the treatment of heroin addiction, the patient must first undergo a serious evaluation process followed by detoxification treatment. Starting from the detoxification process, psychological treatment is initiated. Patients can then enter a rehabilitation program. In our hospital, implant and depot injection treatments are also applied to provide long-term prevention.
Purification (Detox) Therapy:
Detoxification treatment involves the immediate alleviation and elimination of withdrawal symptoms. Withdrawal symptoms, known as a heroin crisis, begin within 6-12 hours of stopping heroin use and can persist intensely for up to 15 days. The most severe phase can last up to 7 days from the first day. During this period, the individual’s withdrawal symptoms must be alleviated. In the past, traditional treatments were used, and medication was applied according to the symptoms. However, we now have modern, advanced treatments available. Buprenorphine and Methadone treatments are the most prominent of these. At Pembe Köşk Psychiatric Hospital, inpatient withdrawal treatment (detox) for heroin addicts is performed with Bupronerphine HCL as a 21-day treatment program. Bupronerphine/naloxone medication treatment helps heroin addicts overcome their crisis more easily. In some patients, the patient even experiences relief within the first few hours of withdrawal. Once the withdrawal crisis is suppressed, psychological treatment support is initiated the same day. At Pembe Köşk Psychiatric Hospital, detox treatment is provided 24/7 under the supervision of specialist doctors and nurses. In addition to substance abuse treatment, consultation is also available for any complications that may arise.
Naltrexone Implant 1000 mg (Addiction CIP)
The naltrexone implant, known as the addiction chip, which contains the substance naltrexone, is placed under the skin. Naltrexone is an opioid antagonist that blocks the effects of opioids and reduces cravings. The abuse potential of naltrexone is weak. Because of problems with oral naltrexone use and treatment discontinuation, long-acting, slow-release naltrexone implants, also known as “pellets”, have been developed. The naltrexone implant is applied under the skin 7-10 days after the last opioid or alcohol use. The implants remain in the body for 12 weeks as an effective treatment process. They also have no addictive effects. Naltrexone is a competitive, specific opioid receptor antagonist with high affinity for mu-receptors and is used in the Pink Kiosk as an ideal product for the treatment of both alcohol and opioid addiction.
Nalmefen Consta Warehouse Needle
Nalmefene Consta depot injection is a long-acting injection therapy. It is a treatment for opioid (heroin, codeine, bubrenorphine, methadone, oxycodone etc.) addicts to prevent relapse to opioid use after detoxification treatment. Nalmefene Consta works by blocking the receptors to which opioids bind in the brain after opioid addicted patients take opioids. This binding prevents the pleasurable effects of opioids.
With Nalmefene Consta depot injection therapy, patients stay clean for a long time. As such, continuity in treatment is ensured and the person can be successful in treatment with psychological support programs. As a result of these treatments, the desire to use substances decreases.
Nalmefene Consta depot injection is available in doses with a duration of action of 3, 6 and 12 months.
Naltrexone Depot Needle
Naltrexone depot injection is a long-acting depot injection that lasts up to four weeks. Naltrexone works by blocking the places in the brain where opioids (heroin, codeine, bubrenorphine, methadone, oxycodone, etc.) bind to produce their effects. Since the pleasurable effects are stopped, it causes the person to stay away from addictive opioid substances for a long time. Because it reduces the craving for the substance and keeps the person clean for a long time, it allows the person to recover from opioid addiction. Although there are also Naltrexone tablets that can be taken orally, the injection form is more effective.
Long Term Maintenance Treatment:
After the detox period, if necessary, maintenance treatment with synthetic opiates like bupronerphine/naloxone can be administered to severe heroin addicts. Also known as replacement therapy, these medications can be used long-term as a substitute for the substance. However, due to the addictive effects of these drugs, long-term use is limited to controlled use in select patient groups. Maintenance treatment can even be administered with alternate-day doses.
Rehabilitation Program:
After detox treatment, suitable patients are enrolled in a rehabilitation program. Rehabilitation and psychosocial support programs are conducted for a minimum of 1 month and extend to 2 months, 3 months and 6 months. It is generally preferred that patients stay in the treatment center for at least 3 months.
In the inpatient program, patients participate in daily psychiatric consultation, individual psychological therapy, group therapy, occupational therapy, life skills training, activities such as walking, sports and spa, yoga and movie watching. In addition to all these treatment and rehabilitation program activities, families are also interviewed. Each patient has a psychiatric consultation throughout the day, individual and group therapy with 3 different psychologists, a psychological counseling session for life skills training, a medical doctor check-up for medical problems, and activity programs with experts for sports, hiking, spa and yoga programs. These applications are performed under the control of a doctor and nurse for 24 hours.

Outpatient Treatment Program:

Patients who do not require a decontamination program can be admitted directly to an outpatient program. It can be applied after detoxification treatment, or directly to medical treatment and psychological support program in patients who do not require detoxification treatment. Outpatient treatment includes individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy and medication as well as other psychosocial support programs. Families are also informed and supported through interviews in the program. If 1 month of treatment is not enough, the program can be extended according to need and demand. Patients who fail in the outpatient program are provided with inpatient treatment.
