What is Alcoholism?

Alcoholism, also known as alcohol dependence, is a disease that includes the following four symptoms.

(Intense craving) Excessive insistence or need to drink.

(Losing control) Once you start drinking, you can’t stop.

(Physical dependence) Withdrawal symptoms after stopping drinking, such as anxiety, sweating, shaking, nausea.

(Tolerance) The need to drink more alcohol to get the same psychological effect.

What are the physical and psychological harms of alcohol?

It impairs brain functions and severely reduces learning and memory abilities.

It causes respiratory failure and death.

It affects the liver, causing fatty liver, alcoholic hepatitis and alcoholic cirrhosis.

It can cause pancreatic insufficiency, inflammation, and cancer.

Mental retardation and physical anomalies are seen in babies born to mothers who consume alcohol during pregnancy.

Children of alcoholic parents have a higher chance of becoming alcoholics in the future than normal children.

Is Alcoholism a Disease?

Yes. Alcoholism is a disease. The cravings alcoholics feel for alcohol are as strong as their need for food and water. Alcoholics persist despite serious family, health, or legal problems.

Like many other diseases, alcoholism is chronic, meaning it can last a lifetime.

Alcoholism causes physical, psychological and social destruction over time.

A person’s genes and lifestyle play an important role in the development of alcoholism.

Can Alcoholism Be Treated?

Alcohol addiction treatment basically consists of two stages.

Detoxification:

The first phase of treatment involves eliminating alcohol from the body and alleviating withdrawal symptoms. This phase lasts between 7 and 20 days.

Psychological Treatment and Rehabilitation:

The second phase of treatment involves psychological support and rehabilitation for a new life. The primary goal is to prevent relapse. In this phase, situations that may facilitate relapse are identified and appropriate coping strategies are developed to help the addict cope. Psychotherapy, medication, and support groups are utilized.

Implant Therapy in Alcohol Treatment:
Naltrexone Implant 1000 mg (Addiction CIP)

Naltrexone implants, known as addiction chip devices, contain naltrexone and are administered subcutaneously. Naltrexone is an opioid antagonist that blocks the effects of opioids and reduces cravings. Naltrexone has a low abuse potential. Due to problems with oral naltrexone use and discontinuation of treatment, long-acting, slow-release naltrexone implants, also known as pellets, have been developed. Naltrexone implants are administered subcutaneously 7-10 days after the last opioid or alcohol use. The implants remain in the body for 12 weeks as an effective treatment. They have no addictive effects. Naltrexone is a competitive, specific opioid receptor antagonist with high affinity for mu-receptors and is used at the Pink Mansion as an ideal product for the treatment of both alcohol and opioid addiction.

1-Outpatient Alcohol Treatment

Outpatient alcohol treatment is applied to those whose alcohol addiction is gradually developing or who are mildly dependent on alcohol and who do not have complaints requiring hospitalization.
